Installation Instructions CAUTION Make sure that the linoleum is at room temperature before unrolling. It is very brittle when cold. Do not try to warm it too fast – this could crack the linoleum. Just loosen the roll and leave it in a warm room for a day. Try to work with the material on a warm, smooth surface. Cuts can easily be made from the burlap side. Use a sharp utility knife and a straightedge. Cut through the material several times. Fold it towards itself (linoleum surface towards linoleum) and the result should be a clean break. If you get scuffs or scratches, they can often be covered with a paste floor wax such as Butcher’s Wax. This type of wax can also be used to clean and protect the linoleum. Don’t use old wax and make sure the wax is evenly distributed over the rag with which you apply it, as lumps can cause streaks. Do not use a caustic cleaner, as this may damage the linoleum. You can glue the linoleum down with a mastic cement or any adhesive made for vinyl tile. Do not use Liquid Cement or contact cement. You can also just tack the linoleum down underneath the trim instead of using an adhesive, but this method is not recommended if the linoleum will be exposed to big changes in temperature or a lot of hot sunlight. When applying an adhesive, spread it evenly over the surface to be covered by the linoleum. Do not leave any blank spaces, or it will feel as if there is a bubble of air under the material once it is glued down. Please remember that linoleum was used as a covering from approximately 1850 until 1950 and your restoration with this material is dated also by the good and bad qualities of a product consistent with that time period. Linoleum may be easily stained, scuffed or scratched during normal use. WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR PRODUCT INSTALLATION OR DAMAGE WHICH MAY OCCUR AFTER THE LINOLEUM IS RECEIVED BY THE CUSTOMER IN GOOD CONDITION.
Please make sure you have ordered all of the material you need for your project as colors can vary from roll to roll and the manufacturer periodically discontinues colors. If you are satisfied with our product and service, please recommend us to your friends in the hobby. Thank you for your order.
